Coffee Bags With Valve Flat Bottom: Design Around the Gas, Not Just the Bag
ypak.coffee
YPAK PACKAGING GROUP was established in 2011 and formed with 3 companies based on Hongkong, Dongguan and Foshan. We have become one of the largest coffee bag manufacturers in China. We use the best quality WIPF valves from Switzerland to keep your coffee fresh.
Conform to the plastic ban policy imposed to many different countries, we have researched and developed the sustainable packaging bags, such as RECYCLABLE and COMPOSTABLE pouches.
No minimum quantity, no color plates are required with our HP 25K INDIGO DIGITAL PRINTING service.

coffee bags with valve flat bottom
This is because fresh coffee alters as soon as it is put into the package.
This is the one part which makes this bag unique.
Freshly roasted coffee allows for gas to escape from the bag after it is packed, even though the bag has a flat bottom, good graphics and a clean zip. It is therefore not possible to consider the valve as a small add-on which is to be added onto the designed product.

In the case of a flat bottom packaging, start with the coffee and place it in coffee bags with a valve.
Then draw your package design, keeping in mind what will happen next!
Start with Your Packing Plan!
When was the roasting of the coffee?
The question is so early in the packaging discussion that it is surprising.
The degassing situation of a roaster might differ from that of a roaster that is filled with un-packed coffee before being filled. The actual application is influenced by a number of factors, such as the type of coffee, the roast profile, the packing timetable.
Features such as the flat base should be considered in tandem, rather than separately, as in the case of YPAK's Flat Bottom Coffee Bags With Valve.
Avoid using the words 'with valve' and then ending there.
Describe how the bag will be filled in actuality.

Valve Position is a part of the Front-Panel Design.
A flat bottom bag provides an excellent area for printing for a brand.
It also brings the competition for space.

The highest seal is in one zone. One other is the zipper. The Product names, roast information and main logo should have visual hierarchy. If this is the case, then there has to be a working valve position as well.
Place the valve in any unused area of the artwork and the design might be slightly out of shape after it is filled.
Complete the functional areas first.
Design graphics later on.
| Packaging Zone | Confirm Before Artwork | Main Concern |
| Top Seal | Required sealing space | Avoid functional interference |
| Zipper Zone | Opening and grip area | Keep easy to access |
| Valve Area | Final valve location | Avoid key graphics and folds |
| Main Panel | Logo and coffee information | Maintain clear hierarchy |
| Side Panels | Secondary product information | Check after filling |
| Flat Base | Gusset expansion | Maintain stable final shape |
Even-filled bag stability remained flat, but has dropped slightly.
The valve resolves the issue of one.
The other is addressed by the bag structure.
This is because a flat base will provide a good retail appearance, but will still require adjustment based on the dimensions of the bags, the volume of the coffee and how it settles in the bag. YPAK's Wholesale Flat Bottom Coffee Bags are placed around shelf stability in conjunction with barrier structure, optional valves and resealable closures.
That combination matters.
The package must contain the coffee and yet be the same shape as the package the designer approved.
The barrier does not need to be replaced by the valve:
It's easy to keep your eyes on the attractive technical element.
However, protection of coffee still remains to be done by the whole of the pouch.
All of the above are involved in the structure of the bag, seals, layers of material, zippers, and valves. The package surrounding the valve has to be suitable, or it will not work for the valve.
That's why, when selecting materials, it is important to consider the valve selection as well. Here, at YPAK, structure, material and functional add-ons can be taken into account in the same customization process, thanks to its Build Your Coffee Bag workflow.
Keep in mind that it is a system, not a component.

Identify the stages of the Customer Opening process
It is important to take into account the valve before opening.
The zipper is even more crucial after.
Customers can open and close the pouch as many times as they like for a pack of 250g, 500g or larger for home use. The first experience is then therefore part of the packaging performance.
The zipper should be easily accessible, easy to use, and be distinct from the heat sealed top.
Those functions can be combined with high quality surface treatments. For instance, YPAK's Rough Matte Flat Bottom Coffee Packaging features a textured finish and a one-way valve and a resealable zipper.
Technical packaging doesn't have to be technical.
Take the coffee grounds out of the container, and perform the Valve Test With Real Coffee.
Please do not test this package without a pouch.
Top it off with the coffee you will be selling.
Seal it in the desired manner. Look at the shape that is full. Look at the area of the valve, the top seal, zipper and bottom stability. Repeat the experiment on other sets of samples.
It is not a laboratory experiment that you are trying to make.
This is to detect obvious incompatibilities early rather than late, during bulk production.
In addition, where a new size, material or structure is being considered then the YPAK's Sample Policy can be used as part of the pre-production review process.
| RFQ Item | Information to Provide |
| Coffee Type | Whole bean or ground |
| Roast-to-Pack Timing | Typical packing schedule |
| Fill Weight | 150g, 250g, 500g, 1kg or custom |
| Bag Material | Required barrier / sustainability direction |
| Valve | Required and preferred position |
| Closure | Resealable zipper requirement |
| Printing | Number of designs / SKUs |
| Packing Method | Manual, semi-auto or production line |
Keep an eye on the Bag for over 5 minutes.
Others packaging issues are apparent right away.
Others do not.
The freshly filled pouch might look great when it is removed from the packing table but will react differently after sitting, handling and case packing.
So store multiple filled samples.
Place on a shelf. Place other people in the desired shipping carton. Open and close the one many times. A comparison of the area of the valves and the overall shape of the pouch will be done later.
That simple test will more closely resemble reality of the completed product.

Conclusion
The quality of a good coffee bag with valve flat bottom packaging is not determined by the usage of a high quality pouch along with a valve.
The roast schedule, valve, barrier structure, zipper and sealing area/flat bottom geometry must be integrated.
Instead of asking:
“Is it possible to make a valve in this bag?”
Ask:
“Have they thought about how the bag will look with the coffee we're going to fill it with?”
This is the question that should be answered prior to production.
FAQs
Q1. What is the reason for having a valve on the flat bottom coffee bags?
When a freshly roasted coffee is placed in the espressamachine, a one-way degassing valve is usually used to release the gas, but to prevent the entry of external gas.
Q2. Do all coffee bags have to have a valve?
Not necessarily. This decision should be made based on the product, roast-to-pack timing and packaging process - it should not be added automatically.
Q3. Where is the valve going to be placed?
Should be coordinated with the bag structure, the zipper, sealing areas and artwork. Check position prior to final printing.
Q4. Are there any flat bottom valve bags that are also zippers?
Yes. If the flat-bottom coffee package is designed around both the valve and zipper, then it is possible to incorporate both functions into the package.
Q5. What initial tests are needed prior to going into bulk production?
Approval for production following filling and sealing of actual coffee, followed by testing of valve area, filled shape, bottom stability, zipper operation and carton packing.
